Getting Closer

For this print, I interpreted the theme “interior landscapes” as an opportunity to represent an internal thought process about confronting fears and improving myself. I’m learning how to be more comfortable with platonic intimacy, so the hands that overlap the face represent the emotional labor required to work through it. The format of the print is meant to be interactive and becomes a landscape itself. The viewer can open it to see the interior, and remove the center to see the quote “getting closer” which refers to my own progress. The back of the centerpiece has a leaf embossed into it, and this is meant to add another level of touch. The work centers around the concept of touch, both in its presentation and context.
